What's happening this year at the MWC?

27 February - 2 March 2017, it will all start with the buzz on a high for months, live streams both video and social media will be at a frenzy as the brands announe their products.

Where is the Mobile World Congress Held?

Mobile World Congress takes place each year in the Mobile World Capital Barcelona, Spain, at two venues: Fira Gran Via and Fira Montjuic.

Samsung at the MWC

Samsung generally has their own press event for the #newgalaxy which in 2017 is expected to be the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the newly named S8 Plus, the name changing due to the standard S8 having the edge screen, and this seems the biggest change to the Galaxy S7 release last year.

With some many Samsung Galaxy Phones available on the market, covering all options for consumers with the release of the new A family recently and the popular Galaxy A3 deals, it would be highly unlikely we saw a mini version of the S8, like Apple produced in the form of the iPhone SE, bringing a new latest model iPhone with a 4 inch screen, some latest of the latest specs to bring a great experience with a cheaper budget compared to the iPhone 7 at the top of the tree.

VR is bound to take its place at some point as Samsung will look to progress on its previous success which seems only just the beginning.

LG at the MWC

The G6 is expected for LG's new flagship smartphone with the conversation based on if it will be modular or not and the decision on if it has a removable battery or not.

Based on rumours prior there could be a new design with a new glassy shiny effect and some new colours arriving at the LG G6 compared to the G5.

Huawei at the MWC

The manufacturer seeming to be becoming more and more popular in the UK and this year could see a pop up into the most popular mobile phones 2017 list. The flagship phones seem to be sneaking in with a cheaper price than the flagships of other manufacturers too, yet with healthy specs and design to be able to compete. The popular ascend models saw their name reduced to the model simply as P9 and now we are ready to see what the Huawei P10 has to offer.

HTC at the MWC

Just very recently the U Ultra released in the UK so a quick move to the expected HTC 11 also for their flagship may take place at the MWC 2017.

Like Samsung, HTC has stepped proudly into the VR market and the HTC Vive which is powered by SteamVR is bound to be another experience that takes you to another place, that will be enhanced even more.

Sony at the MWC

2016 bought a new Xperia with the XZ so there maybe a little confusion of if they Xperia Z6 will actually appear and the family keep growing.

More top specs are expected though from Sony whatever the name will be or a new batch of XZ models after the Xperia XZ may be on their way.

No doubt there will be some surprises from some of the top names in the mobile phone industry, if you need a new mobile phone contract now there are plenty of more models available right now.
